Bangalore Jeep Club – The journey begins! – 8th Apr, 2018

posted in: BJC-Activities | 0

For some, it is the modern urban-chic, with ancestral characteristics (design), that is the attraction, while for others it is akin to pampering their gorgeous girlfriend. But for an avid adventurer, what matters most is not where one goes, rather how one gets there, especially when their association has been set with Jeep! Sitting behind the wheel of a Jeep, no distance is long enough. One such EPIC journey began from the Bangalore Palace to Buckingham Palace, covering approximately 16000 kms by a fellow Jeeper and this was a good enough reason for the Bangalore Jeep Club’s launch meet. The occasion was apt, for flagging off the journey, which seemed to fulfill a promise of joyful while discovering the unknown, in a way that only Jeep can provide. The beautiful and scenic Bangalore Palace, in Bangalore, was the venue, where the Bangalore Jeep Owners club met at the break of dawn on 8th April 2018.

Within a short time, the flow of jeeps began, driven by enthusiasts, who were accompanied by friends and family, to grace the occasion. The flagging off ceremony commenced with good wishes flowing from all directions, wishing Godspeed from God’s own country and no one know how more than an hour just passed by. The exhilaration and enthusiasm witnessed at the ceremony was overwhelming! Media bytes, drones and 100’s of cameras, whether mobile cameras or DSLR, were out capturing every moment and every expression, creating a flutter of the shutter sounds and flashes could be seen all around. It provided a sense of serenity for sure.

The convoy started its journey from the Palace, headed towards its next destination that was 90 kms on the Hyderabad highway, which was a pit stop to catch up some lip-smacking food. Memories were created even at this spot, as mothers could be seen chasing their kids with a plate of food, who were in turn running behind the ducks at the location. The sight was another reason to bring a smile to the faces of those who were present.

Some very interesting group interactions take place during meals and this time was no exception. An enthusiastic discussion ensued on the most spoken topic of Headlights, flaunting accessories, upcoming trips, especially the one that would cover Leh and Ladakh, plans for next Bangalore meet and much more.

Finally, Jeepers gave a grand send off to Mr Chandramouli with a perfect Jeep Wave, which was not just a wave of the wrist, but also with the Jeeps getting together and forming a perfect V.

Madras Jeep Club’s Drive to Yercaud – Apr 29th, 2018

Madras Jeep Club

MJC (Madras Jeep Club) wanted to create an opportunity for a meet up where family members can also be part of. A ground work done by Deepak, Kirubakaran and Yogesh of close to 3 months got around 15 families participation. True to the name of Yercaud Trails the stay was in GRT Trails one of the best Resorts in Yercaud right at the 20th hair pin bend.

As they say any trip starts with a bang. It literally happened with thee JC punctures. True to the word of jeepers drive together. Fellow Jeepers stayed to help each other.

MJC wanted everyone to have a feel of how the trails would be as we have seen videos of other trails hence it was organised with help of Mr Razaq of Yercuad. We were taken to a scenic 1000 acre estate having 10 KM trails. This was an awesome experience ,the beauty was all Jeepers managed this trail in midst of jungle type estate with ease and as pro’s.

MJC had written to FCA for support and support was arranged by FCA in the form of Salem Jeep Dealer True Sai. They were throughout the trails to provide support for us during the trails. This trail completed without any hick ups.

The convoy travelling on a 16 km stretch from heart of yercaud was a sight to see for the locales as many took videos of the convoy and jumped on an opportunity to take photos. Many stopped to ask if it was any shooting or what was happening

There were surprised families at GRT who had stopped me and asked what is this story of so many Jeep Compass around and I was questions as I was wearing Jeep AG t shirt. Benefits of merchandise. The family was so shocked of our unity and all he could say was “I am surprised that a metal has bought unity of families”. He thanked me saying now I can sleep peacefully as now I know.

For 15 families being there and meeting  for the first time it never felt like that. My son quoted – “Dad I had a nice time during this trip. Even though all 15 families met for the first time. It never felt like that unknown faces meeting. It was like a family trip“

For this trip we had 11 jeeps from Chennai and 4 from Karnataka. Two Jeepers from Nellai joined and Dharmapuri also joined us.

All is well that ends well. On May 1st Jeepers decide to do something for the Mother Nature also. We thus planted saplings at GRT trails premises. A small give back to Mother Nature.

Special thanks to PSH and Hemanth for being with us and guiding us through the trials. We were surprised by their energy and knowledge.

JeepAG North Trail – March, 2018

posted in: IJ-Activities | 0

It was one fine evening when Rizul and Kunal were sitting over drinks that Rizul shared the marvelous idea of JEEPAG (Jeep Activity Group). This idea of Jeepag, with the intent to connect Jeep owners / lovers on one platform, hit just the right spot and really clicked well with us. It got us all fired up to put our heads together and find the perfect way to get things together to make it work.

Time was a major challenge for us and our initial struggle was to find a way to have it in our favor. So our first step was to organize a North Jeep Meet through which planned to launch the Jeepag with our fellow Jeepers from different locations.

This was the occasion which helped us connect with Ayush & Mohit, from NCR group, and thought of executing the meet at Morni Hills. Although our initial plan was to meet on the 10th of March, but then it was rescheduled to 24th of March, for which the FCA / Jeep India got ready to help us in our trail.

FCA and the local Jeep dealer WSL, Mohali were absolutely amazing with their help, technical support and event sponsoring.

On 24th March, our friends from NCR, along with PSH (fellow Jeeper from Bangalore) started with 7 Jeeps at 8 AM and we made the much needed halt for some yummy paranthas at Murthal. They were joined by Nipun at Ambala, from where they headed to Zirakpur where Kunal was waiting for them. They reached Zirakpur at 1 PM and commenced their journey to Urban Baithak, Morni Hills, where the Trail set up was done by WSL Mohali. Many other tri-city Jeepers were present at the venue and waiting the arrival of their NCR friends. We reached the venue at around 1:30 PM and spent some great moments meeting the other friends, after which we were served a sumptuous lunch.

Having finished lunch, we started the trail at around 3:30 PM with a total of 23 Jeeps and our photographer Amit, who captured some very memorable moments for us  (See photos) from all angles. Not to lose out on an opportunity to beam at the camera, we made multiple stops for a photo session, during the trail of 8 Kms (one side).  One of the best photographs is probably the one that captured all our Jeeps together (See photos). We then headed back to the venue by 5:30 PM and enjoyed some amazing snacks at High Tea.

It was time to disperse and a few of the friends from the NCR headed back for Delhi, while a few others stayed back at the Golden Tulip resort at Morni Hills. It was here that we made a plan for an evening get together, along with our friends from Delhi.

Rizul joins me in extending a big thank you to all our friends from the NCR & tricity, for attending the event in such a huge number and making the effort of getting to know each other well.

Looking forward to many more of such wonderful meets in the coming days .

Happy Jeeping,

Rizul Sharma & Kunal Raheja
